Since then we have grown and are lucky to have many specialised people working hard for us on our team, and a great purpose-built factory facility in Kerikeri where our homes are built.
We employ specialised people to help us fulfil your dreams, including our home consultants, architectural designers, quantity surveyors, site foremen, factory specialists and tradespeople. We also house an excellent administration team of customer service consultants and office support staff.

The Relocatable Home Co
At The Relocatable Home Co. we believe more New Zealanders owning their own home creates better family environments, better communities and better futures.
Not only have we been in business for more than 12 years; house relocation is truly in our DNA. This photo dates back to the late 1800’s with our Managing Director, Richard’s great, great grandfather being involved in relocating a building through the small Waikato town of Kihikihi.
The Relocatable Home Co. was founded by Chrissey Hutchinson and her son Richard in 2008. Chrissey first saw a house being relocated when she was just a teenager, having been given the day off school to watch her family bach being relocated to Whangaparoa.
She has relocated and renovated several houses over the years, including her family home where she lived with husband Bill and her two children. Her passion for relocation obviously rubbed off on son Richard, who grew up with relocation in his blood!
Chrissey and Richard joined forces in 2008 to create The Relocatable Home Co. which combined Chrissey’s passion for relocation, along with Richards experience in property and business finance.
The Hutchinson family spirit and enthusiasm for relocation remains a key contributor to the business today. As CEO, Richard continues to embody the essence and spirit of the business. Ensuring a professional approach to the operation and building an experienced and enthusiastic team has allowed The Relocatable Home Co. to go from strength to strength.

Transportable homes nz
Transportable homes have become increasingly popular in New Zealand due to their unique design and convenience. These transportable homes are designed to be easily transported from one location to another, offering flexibility and affordability to homeowners. In this essay, we will explore the design and features of transportable homes in New Zealand, the benefits and advantages they offer, as well as the considerations and challenges that come with choosing a transportable home.
Transportable homes come in various types and designs to cater to different needs and preferences. One popular type is the modular home, which is constructed in sections or modules off-site and then transported to the desired location for assembly. Another type is the relocatable home, which is built on a chassis and can be easily moved using a trailer or truck. Key design elements make these homes portable. For instance, transportable homes are built with lightweight materials such as steel frames and timber cladding, allowing for easy transportation without compromising structural integrity. Additionally, these homes often feature detachable components, such as roofs and walls, which can be dismantled and reassembled easily. Transportable homes in New Zealand are equipped with a range of features and amenities to ensure comfortable living. Despite their compact size, these homes are designed to maximize space utilization. They often include open-plan layouts, clever storage solutions, and multi-purpose furniture to optimize functionality. Moreover, transportable homes typically come with modern fixtures and fittings, energy-efficient appliances, and sustainable building materials to promote eco-friendly living.
One of the key benefits of transportable homes in New Zealand is their flexibility and convenience. Homeowners have the freedom to move their homes to different locations, whether it be for work, lifestyle changes, or simply a change of scenery. This flexibility allows individuals to adapt to their changing needs and preferences without the hassle of selling or buying a new property. Transportable homes also offer cost-effectiveness compared to traditional homes. The construction process of transportable homes is often more efficient and streamlined, resulting in lower labor and material costs. Additionally, the ability to transport the home eliminates the need for purchasing land, which can be a significant expense. Moreover, transportable homes are generally more energy-efficient, leading to reduced utility bills and long-term cost savings. Furthermore, transportable homes contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing carbon footprint. The construction of these homes involves less waste and disturbance to the natural environment compared to traditional homes. Additionally, the use of energy-efficient materials and appliances helps to minimize energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. As a result, transportable homes are an eco-friendly housing option for those who prioritize sustainability.
While transportable homes offer numerous advantages, there are considerations and challenges to be aware of when choosing this housing option in New Zealand. Firstly, planning and permits are required for setting up a transportable home. Homeowners need to ensure compliance with local regulations and obtain necessary permits before moving and installing their homes. This process may involve additional costs and time. Secondly, site preparation and infrastructure considerations are crucial.
